Stele of Xeper
$480.00
Intrigued by the Stele of Revealing used by Aleister Crowley and the Thelemic community, Dr Michael Aquino -the founder of Temple of Set and ex-member of Anton LaVey’s Church of Satan- designed a Stele of his own to symbolize all the mysteries of the typhonian Red God.
More specifically, and shortly after the founding of the Temple of Set in 1975, membership certificates were issued to all Setians. These certificates were fashioned as Egyptian Stele, designed specifically for this purpose. The testament to individual recognition within the Temple of Set is entitled the Stele of Xeper, which means Stele of Becoming.
In his explanatory article in the Ruby Tablet of Set, Dr Aquino wrote about the Stele… «Shown at left is Xepera. With one hand he indicates the Pentagram of Set [depicted here as a star of Egyptian aesthetics] with the other three ascending hieroglyphs for the apes, mankind, and divine persons – the evolution of the Elect. Enthroned at right is Set, holding the Ankh of Life and the Was sceptre (incorporating the head and forked tail of the Set-animal). It is this sceptre which signifies the Guardianship of the Temple of Set; The [upper line] of hieroglyphics read: “uset-f neter Set em xennu kekiu em-sa pa xepe em pet” which means “The throne of the divine Set is within the Darkness behind the Star Thigh in the heavens.” This refers to the traditional associating of Set with the astronomical north pole, the principle star of which then being Alpha Draconis and now being Polaris». While the lower line of hieroglyphics read: “Xepera Xeper Xeperu” which means “I Have Come Into Being and Created That Which Has Come Into Being”.
Inspired from the Setian occult literature, the artistic workshop LOGOS 373 offers to all initiates into the mysteries of the Red God, occultists of the Left Hand Path, as well as to all lovers of Egyptian art, a special version of the Stele of Xeper.
The Stele is made of natural fir wood, impregnated with an antimicrobial substance and hand painted with paints/powders of byzantine hagiography using the traditional technique of egg tempera. The gold in the background of the image is 22 carat gold foils and specially treated to have the appearance of aging. In its final stage, it was coated with a transparent beeswax varnish and the sides were lined with red velvet tape.
The dimensions of the Stele is 35X30. The back side of the Stele is covered with red velvet, and a magical greeting note stamped by the artist’s sigil and personalized with the holder’s name.
Please note that each Stele is unique and hand painted from the beginning only after request because it’s an offspring of spiritual practice, not a mass production.
