Children Stoles for the Gnostic Mass

As the sky is adorned by a sun and a moon, as at the entrance of the Temple of Solomon two columns dominated to the right and left (Boaz and Jachin), as the tauroctony of Mithras was accompanied by a pair of twins with their torches turned respectively, upwards (Cautes) and downwards (Cautopates), so also in the main rite of Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica today – the Gnostic Mass – in addition to the three Officers (Deacon, Priestess and Priest), two Children in name, share a part in this holy ritual drama.
Aleister Crowley writes about it in Liber XV «Two children – they are clothed in white and black. One bears a pitcher of water and a cellar of salt, the other a censer of fire and a casket of perfume».

The Children (Τέκνα) represent the duality of the world, and thus, they are dressed in colors reflecting the interplay of primal opposites. Their first function upon entering the Temple is to bring the four Elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) and in this way they show and remind the Congregation what are the main pillars that support each and everything existence.
At the same time – and based on the Thelemic theology of the Book of the Law – the Children declare the Two–in–One god of Heru Ra Ha, the alchemical Mercury, seen in its dualistic aspect.

The artistic workshop LOGOS 373 wanting to emphasize the alchemical character of the Gnostic Mass designed and presents for the “negative” and “positive” Child special Stoles* made of white and black linen fabric embroidered with the corresponding alchemical symbols of the passive and active Elements, right in the lungs as the Children are the living, breathing presence of the Elements during the mystery of the Mass.
The Stoles are lined with stiff inner material to maintain a straight line. It is one size ( measures 1.35 cm in the front | width 23 cm) and there is the possibility -if you asked and needed- to reverse the symbols, that is, the passive alchemical symbols can be embroidered on black cloth or the energetic alchemical symbols to be embroidered on white cloth.

* Note that the term “Stole” is of Gallic origin and although there is an acoustic similarity with the greek word “στολή” (uniform), it has a completely different meaning. The word is used by the Roman Catholic Church for the liturgical vestment worn by deacons, priests and bishops. Its purpose is to mark their rank. In the Greek Orthodox Church, the same vestment is called “epitrachilio” (Επιτραχήλιο) and symbolize the grace of the Holy Spirit descending from above.
